All about gunfactorIt's that time again, the annual discussion on the design of the sports gala. I think only few athletes and coaches behind the current formula of the election of the sportsman and Sportswoman of the year. As long as the mood among all A-athletes in the Hall (Commission) determines, it remains a popularity award, which to a large extent based on the gunfactor. I myself am also nominated again, but I don't assume that I will win the prize, so I do not have to have it here. I am in my career been sportsman of the year, once again in 2007. I was there when you gilded. It was the first time I experienced something like that. Now I would probably differ slightly. At the voting behaviour of athletes is not just the weighting of performance, but much more and much too often to personal preferences. For my feeling there for that reason often skaters come footballers and loser. Why? Because we have too good in the eyes of many athletes, both in terms of attention and in terms of financial reward. While that last in skating but for a select few applies. In addition to the thought that skaters lives successful. And again that is typically Dutch. It reminds me of the discussion during the Olympic Games in Sochi to Netherlands from sparking off or not was dominant. We do it once super good at the highest conceivable platform, the weather is not good. I have a strong idea that one deals with such very different successes in other countries. I have had this week about it there with Havard Bökko, currently with our team at training camp is in Collalbo. In Norway it is the great successes of cherishes their cross-country skiers, there no one complains. In the women's is Ireen Wüst nominated as Sportswoman of the year. I want to say nothing to the detriment of the other nominees, but I would find a huge mockery, or scandalous, if they do not actually female athlete of the year would be. She walks crooked yet of all the medals they got put in Sochi. But with sport elections is nothing is certain. In that respect, it says a lot about the Dutch sports culture that not Niki Terpstra as winner of Paris-Roubaix, but Tom Dumoulin was voted cyclist of the year. Terpstra is perhaps no sweetie and not everyone in cycling equally popular. But he wins by golly though. And that is what I believe to be in top-class sport. As far as I am concerned he had also nominated for sportsman of the year. There are already so many nominees. Then he had been there at.Remains whether the sports gala one more added value? I would honestly can't come up with. To put it another way, I there will be no second less of sleep if we would stop with this election.SvenColumn @Telesport/Associated Press

Everything is running to gunfactor

It is that time again, the annual debate on the design of the Sportgala. but at sportverkiezingen is not sure.In that respect it says a lot about the Dutch sports culture that not Niki Terpstra as winner of Parijs-Roubaix , but Tom Dumoulin was named cyclist of the year. remains the question of whether the Sportgala still has added value? I would have to say that it may not come up with. Otherwise, i will not second less of sleep if we were to stop with this election.
